We’re currently delivering one of our latest commercial construction projects in Chelmsford, transforming an existing warehouse into three state-of-the-art car showrooms for Toomey Motor Group.
This commercial project involves a major redevelopment of the existing building. While parts of the original framework are being retained, much of the site is being rebuilt. This includes extensive new steelwork, walls, completely new internal spaces, and major upgrades to the outdoor areas – supporting modern technology.
Once complete, the development will provide three modern automotive retail spaces and support Toomey Motor Group as it continues to grow across Essex and expand into Chelmsford.
Transforming an Existing Commercial Site
Rather than starting with an empty site, this project involves working with and adapting an existing warehouse. Parts of the original structure remain suitable for use and are being built into the new development. Alongside this, a large amount of new structural steelwork is being installed to create the strength, space and layout needed for the new showrooms.
The building is also receiving new walls and a new roof, alongside completely new internal spaces, finishes and facilities. Working with an existing building adds another challenge to the construction process. Each stage needs careful planning to make sure the retained parts of the building work with the new structure.
This type of project management is important throughout the build, helping each part of the redevelopment move forward in the right order.
Building Three Modern Car Dealerships
At the centre of the development will be three modern car dealership showrooms for Toomey Motor Group. The project is a good example of the work involved in building car dealerships that meet the needs of modern automotive retail.

Our aim is not simply to refurbish the existing warehouse. We are completely changing the way the site looks, works and performs. Once finished, very little of the original industrial building will be recognisable. In its place will be three purpose-built showroom spaces designed around the needs of a modern automotive business.
